Joseph Kosuth’s “An Elementary Parallelism” (2013) is an homage to Marcel Duchamp that combines preparatory drawings and texts from Duchamp’s “Green Box” (1934) and “White Box” (1966). The work also finds parallels in Duchamp’s nearby work “The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even (The Large Glass)” (1915–23), referencing imagery such as the spiraling form of the Handler of Gravity, the collapsing funnels of the Sieves, and even Duchamp’s signature. On view now as part of the installation “‘Plays of / for a Respirateur’ An Installation by Joseph Kosuth.”
